Bernice Barabash Sports Scholarship

The Bernice Barabash Sports Scholarship recognizes youth who participate in hockey while maintaining high academic standards in preparation for future educational enrichment.
"Bernice was my wife of 29 years who passed away from cancer in 2004. We have two sons who both played hockey for teams originating in Jackson. Since this was a family activity, Bernice was involved on the Jackson Area Hockey Association board in several capacities over many years. This scholarship was started by John Butterfield with input from Bernice and was originally named the JVB Investment Scholarship. Bernice was passionate about providing the structure for kids to play hockey and the value of education. John graciously renamed the scholarship for Bernice as a memorial to her." - Michael Barabash
