Thought 1 Scholarship

The Thought 1 Scholarship was established to help provide a Jackson County high school senior, whose life has been impacted by either losing a parent,
step-parent or legal guardian to cancer or who is a cancer survivor themselves, a significant scholarship and an opportunity to continue their education.

Eligibility Requirements:

Resident of Jackson County, Michigan

Graduating high school senior or graduating home-schooled student

Lost a parent, step-parent or legal guardian to cancer OR applicant is a cancer survivor

Proof of acceptance to an accredited 2 or 4 year college, university or trade school

Applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation describing how cancer has impacted their life

It is recommended that applicants address how cancer has impacted their life in the "Essay" section of the application

Scholarship Criteria: Applicants may be interviewed by the selection committee

Renewable: No
​
Scholarship Award: Up to $2,500. Recipients attending Spring Arbor University will also receive a matching scholarship from Spring Arbor University.

Scholarship Use: Tuition, books, fees, or other academic-related costs

Recipient Obligation: Scholarship recipients may appear on JTV, at other public events, and be a featured speaker at the annual
